2pm SLT: Cain Maven of Maven Homes and Quantum Luxury Homes
Cain will be talking about what he’s showing at the Expo, what’s happening (or not) with Sansar, and his wishlist for Second Life.
And in addition, there’s a special prize to be won! Cain is offering a place in a draw for everyone who attends the session, with the prize being a fantastic Palomar Home. Who would want to miss that?
Today in the Theatre at 2pm SLT, we are offering a chance for creators to bring in some of their latest (or most loved) creations, and show them off to fellow creators and Expo visitors.
These Show and Tell sessions are always fun – and a way of showcasing some remarkable creations!
And that’s not all we’re offering – as Maxwell Graf of the fabulous Rustica is offering a 2000 Linden gift voucher to one lucky prize winner from among the attendees!
For the last year two years, we have held our Home and Garden Decorating Competition – and we’ve been blown away by the standard of work you all produced!
House decorated in 2019 – The Casa Blanca
Not only that – last year the competition also raised the amazing sum of 241,000 Lindens, which is about US$975.
So this year it is back, with fourteen homes for our finalists to decorate!
Houses 2 and 9: Lauren Valley by Galland Homes
The houses are a total of nine different builds, ranging from Victorian to ultramodern, with beach cottages and log cabins. There’s even a special home for petites/dinkies/tinies!
Houses 7 and 14: Martha’s Vineyard Cottage by Little Big Designs (a house for tinies, dinkies or petites)
Full details will appear on this page shortly and you are, of course, be able to explore the full range at the Expo on Hope 3!
House 3: The Winter Cabin by Loggin’ Off Homes
These homes and gardens will be decorated by fourteen finalists who will have 400 prims (land impact) to decorate the Home and the surrounding Garden area.
Houses 6 and 13: Natane by Glas Houses
The finalists will be chosen by a raffle draw made by Saffia Widdershins, who will draw the names out of the equivalent of a Second Life hat (a random name generator script).
Houses 1 and 8: Lil Victorian by Painted Pixels
The finalists will be each assigned one of the fourteen houses, based on their preferences. Competitors can work alone or in pairs or in a small team.
House 4: The Skwer by Cain Maven
Each contestant (or team) can decorate in any style they wish that suits their house, but they MUST include AT LEAST THREE items purchased from RFL vendors at the Home and Garden Expo.
House 11: The Beach Cabin by Loggin’ Off Homes
People will vote for the final winner by donating to a kiosk set outside each of the houses. Each Linden donated to Relay for Life in these kiosks will count as a vote.
Houses 5 and 12: Barn House by RVi Design

Every day at 4pm, there will be a special lantern release ceremony at the Expo.
This ceremony goes back to 2012, when Alchemy Immortalis created the Blue Willow lanterns especially for the Home and Garden Expo. It became the custom to release them each day at 4pm, and people would gather to watch and reflect as the lanterns rose slowly into the air.
The Lantern Ceremony in 2012’s Home Expo
Sometimes people speak, but often the event takes place in comparative silence – a break from the busyness (and the business) of the Expo – a time to reflect, remember and mourn.
We invite you to join us each day at 4pm SLT for this ceremony which begins in darkness and ends as dawn breaks.
At 2pm SLT today, Sunday 16th February, we will be holding the first of the Prim Perfect talks when Saffia Widdershins will be talking to Del Flower and Kess Crystal of Seraphim, the premier events and sales blog.
You can discover all about Seraphim, how it works, how it can help your promote your brand, your event or your blog, and what it feels like to run such a popular media source.
And in addition, there’s a special prize to be won! Seraphim are offering a place in a draw for everyone who attends the session, with the prize being a 1,000 Linden gift voucher for Apple Fall. Who would want to miss that?
Prim Perfect and Designing Worlds have run talks at the Home and Garden Expo since (gulp) 2011 … and we’d like to invite YOU to be a part of this year’s series of talks with designers, landscapers and creatives within the Home and Garden market.
We’re planning to host events at 2pm (and, if needed, 5pm) every day. If you would really LOVE to give a presentation, but can’t make that time, contact us and we will see if we can fit you in.
We are happy to host talks, presentations, interviews, question and answer sessions and show and tell events. It’s an opportunity for designers to share ideas, for people to meet their favourite creators, for communities to come together and talk about their culture and ideas. We’re very open to hosting what YOU want to tell us about!
We are also planning to have some of our popular “Show and Tell” events and hopefully some panel discussions on Second Life.
If you would like to be a part of our programme at the Expo, please complete the form below with your topic and preferred dates and times. We will try to fit in as many people as we can!
Closing date: Friday February 14th.
The grand display of Second Life's Home & Garden & Breedable creations!
